Timber Plant Aarberg Switzerland
The Aarberg timber plant is the biggest power plant of its kind in Switzerland and started operations in 2020. Here, energy is produced sensibly from around 70,000 tons of scrap wood.
The plant with a thermic output of 33 megawatt provides natural energy primarily used for processing sugar beets.
This saves 70 percent of fossil fuels i.e. 14,000 tons of CO2.
The plant is a joint project by three companies. Terra Nova as part of B+T Group is responsible for the provision of scrap wood, AVAG is responsible for operating the plant and Schweizer Zucker AG receives the warmth produced by the timber plant.
